Go go go

For some reason I feel like Chad and I have been on the go constantly lately... or maybe Chad is constantly on the go and it makes me tired just watching him. :) Its probably the "go-go-go" mentality that has made September fly by. Seriously, where did it go?!?!? (not that I'm complaining at all because what pregnant woman doesn't want time to fly by?)
Last Saturday, we got to go the BYU vs. Nevada football game. The seats were great and it was fun to be back in the stadium. Unfortunately, it just wasn't the same as it used to be when I was in school because BYU's game failed to impress this time around. Very, very disappointing to say the least. But we did get 2 pictures in. :)

We reached the 34 week mark yesterday which means in 6 weeks or less, we'll have to transition into responsible people that have to keep a child alive! I'm not really too worried. Mostly we're just excited and ready for her to come. I'm pretty sure I go into the baby room almost everyday just to look at the cute clothes etc. Chad laughs at me sometimes but I'm pretty sure he finds me adorable.
In other news, stay tuned for updates on Chad's employment status...

Contract Kung-Fu

So a few weeks ago i was driving in my car when the check engine light came on. I didn't think much about it. The next day i went to AutoZone to have the error code read for free. The results didn't help much, "clutch solenoid." So i Googled the answer but every website that i found said that you had to take it into the dealership. *sigh*

So i brought it into the dealership and paid the $47.50 diagnostic fee. After hours of them tearing apart my engine the conclusion was that my car needed the transmission replaced.

The error was a faulty part inside of the transmission. Far above any grease monkey work i've done.

The positive side is that when i bought my car 2.5 years ago i purchased an extended warranty, which wasn't cheap. So i let them know and they called the warranty company to get the ball rolling.

They called me back the next day saying that they were still waiting to hear back...

day two....still waiting to hear back.

Finally they came back on the 3rd day with 3 options. (Keep in mind that my car currently has about 89,700 miles on it.)

1) Pay the $100 deductible = Used transmission with 82,000 miles on it.
2) Pay the $100 deductible + $150 = Used transmission with 44,000 miles on it.
3) Pay the $100 deductible + $1,000 = New transmission.

The options were less then exciting for me. So i called the dealership and asked for a copy of my warranty contract. After about 1.5 weeks i finally got it.

I read it over and over....and....i had some questions. It didn't say anywhere in the contract that they could use a used transmission. In fact, it stated that the warranty was an extension of the manufacturer warranty, in this case, Hyundai. As far as i know the Hyundai warranty rocks! and i was positive that under the Hyundai warranty that i would get at least option 3 above.

So i called the dealership and asked to speak with them in person about the questions i had with the contract. I went in, did some of my contract Kung-Fu, explained everything to them and they said, "you're right."

So i ended up with option 4 which is pay the $100 deductible = NEW TRANSMISSION!

Boh-yah!

So my car is currently in the hospital and i have a loaner until it is finished.

I was pretty excited about the end result.

Boring

Maybe every mom-to-be goes through this stage but I'm feeling very boring. Life is fairly routine each day and I'm not doing a very good job of being creative. Some times I think that 7 more weeks sounds like a short time to wait but the last few days it has seemed like a long time. I'm guessing that everybody has these sentiments at some point, right?
We went down to Duck Creek again this past weekend so Chad could help work on the cabin. The most exciting thing that has happened in the last few days is that we didn't miss the cereal sale at Macey's. That's one great thing about living in Provo/Orem, they usually have a sale on cereal near the beginning of each semester. Macey's sale is usually for Quaker products like Life, Oatmeal Squares, Capt. Crunch and granola bars. Last night's shopping trip was EXTRA exciting because the boxes of Oatmeal Squares usually sell out super fast and we usually just stock up on Life but we were able to get several boxes of the Squares!! Yummo! Who needs a variety of foods in their food storage when you can buy 35 boxes of cereal for 98 cents each? :)

Tonight is my first baby shower. Chad's cousins are hosting it for me and the guests are just his aunts and other cousins. Is it strange that I have a fear that nobody will want to show up? I guess its a fear that I've had for a while that goes along with any party focused on me. Maybe I'm just weird and in reality it probably doesn't matter, I just would feel bad for the planners (next month that means you Elise and Meggie)because what if they go to alot of work and then nobody comes. I guess that means there's just more food and crazy party games for us to enjoy. :)
How's that for a random rambling post.

Everyday Life

Our life here in Orem has been busy and expensive lately. Chad's uncle Ron passed away on the 18th and his funeral was last Saturday in Cedar City. Instead of paying for a hotel down in Cedar, we decided to stay up at the cabin in Duck Creek. The day before we left, the check engine light on Chad's car came on so we ended up taking my car down instead. It turns out that there's something wrong with his transmission so we're still working on getting everything worked out with the warranty company. Anyway, back to our trip down south.
When we got to the cabin, Chad and I decided to go on a little adventure to Navajo Lake since I hadn't been there yet. It was pretty cloudy but still a nice scene.

Chad even taught me to successfully skip a rock! I've never been able to do it before and I'm still not good at it but that's ok.

It was good to spend time with so much of Chad's family. This little gem is courtesy of a 50 cent mustache vending machine. You know you're jealous.

We have been very excited to get all of our baby stuff set up and now that Chad's brother has moved out of our house, we can FINALLY get started! Chad started his projects a few weeks ago by rewiring/cabling different rooms in our house so that we can move the computers out of the second bedroom. If you want more details, you can ask Chad but he spent a long time up in the hot attic dropping cables through the walls. Project #2 was getting a new water heater since ours was about 16 years old and only gave us 15 minutes of hot water at a time. This has been on the agenda for a long time but our new water heater was installed yesterday! Its lovely but it definately came with quite the price tag... $$$$$.
Now that the water heater is in we can move on to cleaning our carpets. This was my responsibility and I found a coupon for someone to come and clean for $16 per room. This is a much better deal than renting a Rug Doctor and doing it ourself (since they aren't cheap and always seem to be broken anyway) and the carpets will actually get clean instead of just getting wet! They are coming Tuesday morning. Yeehaw!

PS #1 Chad started classes again. We are hoping that they'll be more fun since they're IT related.
PS #2 Only 9 1/2 weeks left till this baby is here!
PS #3 We have been keeping a spreadsheet about our fruit snack packages. There's usually 7 fruit snacks in each pouch but I've had as many as 10!
