A Letter

Dear Black Forest,

We recently purchased a large box of your Fruit Snacks as a treat to include in our daily lunches. The description on your box claims that each pouch contains .09 oz of “Juicy filled fruit snacks in four delicious flavors - Grape, Apple, Lemon and Cherry. Made with 40% real fruit juice, and 100% vitamin C in each serving.” I am writing to inform you that you totally jipped us. Although these fruit snacks are delicious, especially after being refrigerated, each pouch does not live up to the expectation that was planted within your eager consumers.
Complaint #1
The other day I opened up my pouch of fruit snacks and did not find an array of brightly colored squishy snacks. Instead my package contained only grape flavor. While this particular flavor is tasty, I was disappointed that my eager taste buds did not get to enjoy even one taste of the other three flavors that were supposedly included.
Complaint #2
If each pouch is supposed to contain .09 oz of product… why is it that some days my package has 8 fruit snacks and some days there are as few as 5 or 6. Once again Black Forest, this is extremely disappointing. Assuming that your main target is a population of young children, what do you suppose happens when one child (or 26 year old) receives one less fruit snack in his or her pouch than their friend (or wife)? Two words Black Forest… Chaos and Contention. We all know that when giving two children a treat, it is always the best ideas to give said children equal portions so as to prevent any hard feelings. And unfortunately, your product does not help promote feelings of equality and love.
As a consolation for the above disappointments, please send us an extra 50 packages of fruit snacks to make up for the ones that got left out of our packages.

Sincerely,
Us

Success!

I successfully made a chocolate cheesecake from scratch on Saturday!

Now I know that this may not look like anything extraordinary to you, but to me it represents something more than a cheesecake. The fact that this chocolately brown circle tastes divine and that I, Kortney, made it gives me hope that some day I'll be the kind of mom that when my kids friends come over they say "Wow, (insert undecided name here)'s mom makes the best (enter delicious food name here)!!!"
I know it may be strange but we all need goals, right?

ps: Thanks for finding the recipe Janalee. Feel free to think that we ate it in celebration of your birthday. As for the analysis on whether Derek would eat it based on how cream cheesey it is... I'd say you can definately tell that its made of cream cheese but I think the chocolate flavor is more potent. I bet he could manage to eat a very very thin slice but probably not a real sized piece.

Recent pictures

This is my handsome husband playing Starcraft 2 for the first time. He's been waiting for this day for a long time... like 7 years or so :) Some may call him a geek but I happen to really love geeks, especially one in particular with a great smile.

(as a side note, I would like to mention that this picture was taken in our second bedroom which is where Chad's brother is living so please don't blame us for the mess. :) )

And here is me at 6 1/2 months pregnant. Its true, in the last month my body has decided to look more pregnant. Its not the most flattering picture but you get the general idea.

Did you know

that when you have a stick pretzel and and you hold it straight up and down in between two fingers, you can't break it. I discovered that today while at work and was wanting to do anything BUT work. Yes, its true. I have officially reached the point where I don't want to do anything except look at baby stuff online and try to find good deals.
Is this somewhat silly? Yes. Yes it is but I've always been pretty random so its not really that surprising that pregnancy would make me more random. Right?
